Once home to the Memphis end of the Ohio - Memphis railroad, Arlington began to grow significantly in the aftermath of the Civil War with the construction of small businesses, homes and restaurants, many of which are still located there today. Established in 1878 under the name of Hayesville, it was not until 1883 that the name was changed to Arlington, Tennessee. This quaint town has kept its very unique, historical feel by maintaining five preserved properties that are protected by The Preservation of the Tennessee Antiquities.
