Although in those early days, Germantown was known as Pea Ridge, in 1836 it became known as Germantown, possibly inspired by the many settlers who were of German origin. Through its ups and downs, Germantown settled into a peaceful hamlet occupied by more horses than people. This quaint community is one of the oldest Shelby County neighborhoods. The close proximity to Memphis ensures that Millington can provide all the features of a big city without losing its small-town charm.
