This annual award recognizes an individual who, while employed in the aftermarket, contributed to the industry in a unique and monumental way, and is perceived as the industry’s highest honor/recognition. Egan is responsible for Federal-Mogul’s North American sales, marketing and distribution for the global aftermarket business and is a member of AAIA’s Board of Directors and a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Aftermarket Foundation. Looking Ahead W Heavily involved in AAIA, FederalMogul believes the association is a vital advocate for the aftermarket. “In spite of our industry’s significant daily economic and societal impact, we are largely transparent to the general public,” said Burkhart. “AAIA has helped raise the industry’s profile in Washington, at the state level and among the motoring public, and our membership has helped raise our own profile among these constituencies, as well.” During AAPEX 2007, Jay Burkhart was honored with the 2007 AWDA “Pursuit of Excellence” award. Established in 1983, this award is given annually to a member of AWDA in recognition of excellence in business performance and support for AWDA and its ideals. Burkhart joined Federal-Mogul in 1998 with the acquisition of Cooper Automotive and is responsible for sales, marketing and distribution of Federal-Mogul’s aftermarket products and brands in all geographic regions around the world. In the years to come, Federal-Mogul’s ability to leverage its OE leadership on behalf of aftermarket customers will become increasingly important with each new generation of vehicle technology. For example, the automotive industry is addressing the need for increased fuel efficiency and environmental sensitivity through an array of advanced engine, ignition and fuel technologies that will be more difficult to diagnose and service. Federal-Mogul will be able to provide the in-depth training, quality replacement parts and day-to-day technical support needed by aftermarket businesses to capture these sales and service opportunities in the years to come.
