APRIL 12 - 17, 2010 THE NATIONAL AHEPA GOLF TOURNAMENT INNISBROOK GOLF AND RESORT (JUST OUTSIDE OF TARPON SPRINGS, FL) The Mid-Southern Regional Tournament drew 75 golfers from across the country. Mid-Southern Regional Golf Tournament Draws 75 Golfers The 15th Annual AHEPA Mid-Southern Regional Golf Tournament hosted by Palmetto Chapter 284, Columbia, S.C., featured 75 golfers from across the southeastern U.S. but some from as far away as Boston and California. The tournament was played Oct. 11, 2009 The success of this tournament came from the members who sold more than 40 tee posters, grossing more than $12,000 and a $8,000 net proceed going toward the chapter’s scholarships program. Every member of Chapter 284 that has a child in college receives a $1,000 scholarship. After the tournament each player won a prize and was treated to a dinner. The trophies were designed by Spiro Siaggas, national atheletic director, who played and did the scoring. The winners of this tournament: HANDICAP 1-9 First Place Gross: First Place Net: HANDICAP 10-18 First Place Gross: First Place Net: HANDICAP 19-30 First Place Gross: First Place Net: George Tiasoudis (75) Demetri Voulgarlis (82, Net 74) Chuck Agganis (75) Perry Giannakopoulos (95, Net 76) Gus Pantelides (102) Serathim Hoftoglou (102, Net 83) The 2010 Mid-Southern Regional Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 12. Peter Clentzos “Hubba Hubba” Cup Results Larry Filippi, Illinois, captured the Low Gross Cup Championship representing the East. He shot 226. Denny Rigas, California, won the Low Gross Cup Championship representing the West. He tallied a 227. Twelve low handicap players each representing the East and West played a three-day match competition for the Peter Clentzos Memorial Cup. After trailing after Day 1 of competition, the West staged a comeback on Days 2 and 3 to win the Cup, 18.5 to 17.5.
