Our mAilbAg Dear AHEPA, A little over a year ago, I set a personal goal to run a marathon. After some research, I discovered the AHEPA Athens Marathon program, and decided to register. Having just returned from this fantastic trip, I wanted to write you, and express my gratitude for such a wonderful program. This program led me to Apostolos Greek Tours and Jeff Galloway. Not being a runner, I signed up for online training with Jeff Galloway, and over the past year and a half, he has inspired and motivated me to run further than I ever thought possible. When race day came, I felt prepared, and ready to run my first marathon, and my time was much better than I had ever imagined. Through my fundraising program, I was able to raise over $4,500 for AHEPA charities. Paul Samaras, and the entire staff of Apostolos Greek Tours, treated all of us to a trip of a lifetime. They truly cared about each and every one of us and went out of their way to make sure we were having a great time. I, and many of the other runners, felt very fortunate to have somebody looking out for us in a foreign country while we ran this historic race in the footsteps of history. Every aspect of the tour was thought out well, and Paul, his staff, and Jeff Galloway thought of many little details that those of us who had never run a marathon before would never had considered. We toured some of the greatest sights in Greece, and the tour guides and bus drivers were all professional and knowledgeable. Demetrios Kirkiles, the AHEPA Marathon coordinator, brought all of the AHEPA Marathon Team together so we could meet and make new friends. In fact, all of the tour participants were wonderful, friendly people who shared the common goal of running this historic marathon. Everybody had a fantastic time and left Greece with great memories and many new friends along with the Athens Marathon medal. Thank you for offering the Athens Marathon program. Sincerely, Christ M. Kacoyannakis Springfield, Virginia Dear Brothers of the AHEPA Housing Board: The Supreme Lodge of The Sons of Pericles would like to thank you for your continued support over the past years. We are extremely thankful for the monetary contributions you all have provided us. We can assure you that this money will be put to good use and will help us achieve our goals. You have really shown us what it means to be a part of the great brotherhood of AHEPA. As you may know, we have recently achieved over goal of tripling our membership, and you were definitely a factor in this achievement. If it was not for donors like you, we would not be able to travel to our different districts to spread the word or hold our many annual events, which are crucial to the success of our order. Whenever we travel, it often involves initiating more young men into our Fraternity. The buzz surrounding the Sons of Pericles is very high and our name seems to precede us wherever we go. This past September we held our annual Governor’s Conference in D.C. We had an amazing turnout, and discussed a lot of great things that will better the Order. The meeting we had with our delegates from across the United States reassures us that the future of our organization is firm. Thank you again for your generosity and we are looking forward to an amazing year. As our advisor Chris Economides Jr. always says “Remember, we are the Rising Sons of the Order of AHEPA.” Fraternally, The Supreme Lodge of the Sons of Pericles November 8, 2011 Dear Dr. Grossomanides: Thank you for extending your heartfelt condolences on the passing of my beloved mother, Dorothy Rodham. At this difficult time, I am grateful to you for thinking of me and my family and holding us in your prayers. We are grateful for the gift of my mother’s remarkable life. With warm regards, I am Sincerely yours, Hillary Rodham Clinton Secretary of State Mailbag continued on page 25 10 the ahepan Winter 2011-12 www.ahepa.org http://www.ahepa.org
