For half a century, he was an exceptional life insurance general agent, responsible for establishing the first state-wide pension plan for South Carolina bank employees during the 1960s and 70s. The central theme of Charles’ adult life, however, was not business but rather civic service, especially to his beloved Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, where he was elected no fewer than six times as president of the parish Board.
