For students with limited incomes, endowed scholarships often tip the scale in favor of a Messiah education. As special contributions that are never fully expended, endowed scholarships can be established at any time through gifts of cash, securities, real estate, or life insurance. Since the original contribution — the principal amount — is invested and can never be spent, benefactors make a self-perpetuating gift to Messiah College. By specifying criteria for their named endowed scholarship funds, many benefactors choose to support and encourage students in a specific discipline or geographic area, or who maintain a particular GPA.
