Messiah hosts reception honoring retired instructor Catherine Prescott’s success in the 2006 Outwin Boochever Portrait competition, sponsored by the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. FEBRUARY Center for Public Humanities hosts its annual Spring Humanities Symposium. Kent Hill, assistant administrator for global health at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), serves as keynote speaker. Not for Profit: Designing Across the Social Divide opens in the Aughinbaugh Art Gallery (top). Jim Wallis, “America’s leading progressive evangelical,” according to the Washington Post, visits campus as the speaker at the annual Lecture on Religion and Society (bottom). FEBRUARY Randall Balmer, professor and author of Thy Kingdom Come: How the Religious Right Distorts the Faith and Threatens America, visits campus as part of the Ernest L. Boyer Center Distinguished Lecture series (bottom). Students lead an International Rural Development conference. MARCH Tony Schiano, president of Giant Goods Inc., visits campus as the executive-inresidence for the Department of Management and Business. Jonathan Kozol, acclaimed author and education activist, presents a lecture as part of the Ernest L. Boyer Center Distinguished Lecture series. The Sider Institute for Anabaptist, Pietist, and Wesleyan Studies hosts a peace lecture by Eleanor and Alan Kreider. Liz Laribee ’07 mentors young students during a Spring Break Service Trip to Northern Ireland (above). APRIL Directed by Kristopher Yoder, Inherit the Wind premiers on the Miller Stage.
