ELIZABETH WRIGHT ’08 HOMETOWN: Peterborough, New Hampshire MAJOR: Messiahʼs business alumni recognized as ʻMovers and Shakers of 2007ʼ Messiah College alumni like Andrew Samuel ’84, Eric Clancy ’83, and Debra Pierson ’89 in uence the world of business through their skills and Christian character. Recognized by Central Penn Business Journal as “Movers and Shakers of 2007,” their commitments to their communities, in both time and charitable giving, placed them among the 77 local leaders in law, real estate, health care, manufacturing, and travel and tourism to receive this honor. Pierson was also recognized by Enterprising Women Magazine as a 2008 Enterprising Woman of the Year nalist for her position as founder and president of the successful Pierson Consulting Company and for her role in motivating and mentoring other women in business. In addition to providing excellent academic preparation and internships for its current business students, Messiah College continues to support alumni through the Messiah Business Alumni (MBA) association’s networking breakfasts, where speakers share their expertise and insights into the challenges and rewards of Christian living in the business world. Samuel was a recent speaker at one of the group’s bi-monthly events, where he shared his experiences as a Christian business leader. These events serve to strengthen the fabric of the Messiah College business alumni community. “The Messiah community, as well as the greater faith community, is stronger together,” says Ryan Glenn ’03, president and founder of the Messiah Business Alumni association. “The more we can inspire, support, challenge, and work beside each other — the greater our impact will be on our home communities and the world.” The Agapé Center for Service and Learning sent out many Messiah College teams that served locally, nationally, and internationally, including this team of students who partnered with Food for the Hungry during a May 2008 mission trip to Nicaragua. Theatre PURSUIT: Acting and understudying as a summer 2008 intern with The Peterborough Players in Peterborough, N.H. “Our faith teaches us to tell the truth with compassion, which is invaluable in the theatre. For me, as an actor, that means nding the humanity of each character and entering into that life as honestly as I can and with as much empathy as I can. Actors must show the less polished or attractive sides of themselves; as Christians, we also seek to eliminate hypocrisy and false fronts. . . .
