2007 – 2008 Messiah College President's Report - (Page 23) Stewardso our mission Seven years ago when I rst visited Messiah College, I knew right away that this was a special place. Now as a trustee and the chair of the Committee on Finance, I see rsthand that Messiah’s dedication to its mission is second to none. Faculty, administration, and support staff demonstrate daily their profound commitment to develop the character, intellect, and — most importantly — Christian faith of Messiah students. And when I interact with people and organizations outside the College, I regularly see the fruits of this commitment — I see our graduates contributing to their elds in exemplary ways, and really serving like Christ. With the same clear Christian mission and high standards, those who served Messiah College before us built a strong foundation on which we, in turn, build. As we head into our second one hundred years, we strive as they did, to honor our heritage, to thrive in higher education, and to “give back” to future generations. Our nation’s present economic climate, stressed by climbing prices, troubled nancial institutions, and a burgeoning national debt, make us all the more determined to live within our means as an institution. By judiciously examining every area of expenditure, the nance committee resolutely embraces the College’s top nancial priorities: to ensure Messiah’s continuing nancial stability and to keep tuition and fees affordable for the average family. On the following pages, you will see Messiah’s nancial reports as well as the names of many of the donors who have made gifts to the College this year. The generosity of these and countless other friends, the diligence of our campus community, and the exceptional expertise of the nance committee together provide the breadth, depth, and vision needed to keep Messiah nancially strong while continuing to uphold the high quality of its education. I am richly blessed to serve Messiah College and to experience rsthand the joy, dedication, and deep knowledge of its trustees and nancial advisors. I often pray that our heavenly Father will keep His hand on this College and give us the wisdom to glorify him as caretakers of this exemplary institution. — George Parmer is a member of the Messiah College Board of Trustees and chairs the Committee on Finance.
