Endowed and direct-aid scholarships attract and support talented students Special thanks to benefactors who have made lasting investments in Messiah students through scholarship support Each year, 97% of Messiah’s student body receives some form of institutional nancial aid. Scholarship awards from endowments and direct-aid funds are a form of nancial aid in which a benefactor provides resources to assist students with the cost of tuition. Endowed scholarships are special funds that are never expended. The principal of the fund is invested in perpetuity, and the investment income is awarded to a student or students meeting the scholarship award criteria. Many donors choose to support and encourage students in a speci c discipline or geographic area, or who maintain a particular GPA. Donors may also choose to establish direct-aid awards that are funded on an annual basis. Students are also chosen for direct-aid awards based on a set of selection criteria agreed upon by the donor and Messiah College. The following scholarships, established during the 2007–08 academic year, are an investment in the lives of students that will yield fruitful and lasting returns: • Reverend Simon and Esther Bohen Endowed Scholarship Fund • Brechbill Nursing Scholarship in Memory of Van Buren and Anna Hilsher and Albert and Cora Brechbill • Curtis and Jean Byer Endowed Scholarship • Class of 1958 Academy Endowed Scholarship Fund • Class of 1983 Endowed Scholarship Fund • George S.
