Honeywell to Supply New Embraers’ APUs Embraer Legacy 450 and 500 executive jets—formerly the MLJ and MSJ—will have Honeywell 36-150 auxiliary power units, it was announced this week. This follows the naming in April of Honeywell’s HTF7500E turbofan family for the two machines. “Honeywell’s 36-150 ported shroud APU has a high flow, high efficiency compressor that provides on-wing reliability, efficient main engine starting and high altitude electrical power capacity,” said Rob Wilson, president, Business and General Aviation. “Additionally, the 36-150 also reduces nuisance ramp noise by eliminating surge valve bleed flow on the ground. Passengers will board the aircraft in quiet comfort.” Honeywell is at Booth 322. and Offers Blackberry Messaging and WiFi “Secure, always-on access is available from takeoff to landing,” Honeywell says, unveiling the Honeywell In-Flight Messaging Service that’s accessible from Research In Motion. Connections are made via Honeywell’s OneLink satellite communications network, tied to Swift64 or SwiftBroadband satcom and router hardware to enable customers with WiFi-enabled BlackBerry smartphones to send and receive e-mail aboard business jet aircraft. The system provides “the most efficient use of existing Inmarsat satellite capabilities,” Honeywell says. It’s “the number-one communication service that Honeywell customers have asked for,” said business and general aviation president Rob Wilson. Honeywell is at Booth 322. Fazal Karim Joins, Takes Stake in Jetcraft Former Bombardier worldwide sales chief Jahid Fazal Karim, who earlier this week told Show News about his ambition to form a global aircraft acquisition and management network, has taken the first major step toward achieving that goal. Fazal Karim will become a shareholder and member of the board of directors of Jetcraft Corp, and will serve as the new managing director of Jetcraft Trading, the strategic alliance for aircraft sales and acquisitions formed last year by Jet Aviation and Jetcraft Corp, to offer worldwide solutions for aircraft sales and acquisitions. Swiss Business Airports: For MOOvers and Shakers The edelweiss is overdone as a representation of Switzerland, so Swiss Business Airports has come up with another eye-catching symbol, which was spotted at Booth 1834 promoting the many executive-friendly airports in this country. Obviously, it plans to milk the logo as much as it can. —Paul Jackson ScanTech Installs Raisbeck EPIC on King Air 200 Denmark-based ScanTech recently upgraded a King Air 200 operated by Swedish air ambulance operator Svensk Flygambulans AB.
