Heli-Expo ShowNews - February 24-26, 2008 - (Page 4) AgustaWestland Reports New Orders for 76 Helicopters AgustaWestland announced orders for no fewer than 76 helicopters from 12 customers here at Heli-Expo. They included: • Grupo INAER of Spain, 18 (six AW119 Ke, two AW109 Power and seven Grand, plus three AW139s); • Sloane Helicopters Ltd, 13 (one AW119 Ke, three AW109 Power, seven Grand, and two AW139s); • Synergy Aerospace, 10 (four AW109 Power, four Grand, and two AW139s); • Heliflite Pty Ltd of Australia, nine (three AW119 Ke, two AW109 Power, five Grand, and one AW139); • Kaan Havacilik of Turkey, six (one AW119 Ke, one AW109 Power, three Grand and one AW139); • Sharp Ocean of Hong Kong, five (one AW119 Ke, three Grand, and one AW139); • Scandinavian Aircraft Marketing Aps, five (all AW139s); • Kaigai Aviotech Corp., two (one AW119 Ke and one AW109 Power); • JSC Euro-Asia Air of Kazakhstan, two (both AW139s); • King Express Group, three (one AW119 Ke single engine, one AW109 Power and one Grand); • Korean Government, two (both AW139s in maritime patrol configuration); • United Industries International, one AW139 medium twin turbine helicopter. Orders for EC175 Top 100 Helicopters Eurocopter topped 100 orders for its new 16-passenger EC175 helicopter since unveiling it here at Heli-Expo on Sunday. Launch customers were Bristow Group for 12 aircraft, and VIH Aviation of Canada. Then, in a surprise announcement on Monday, the Halvorson family (they own Papillon Airways and Rainier Heli-Lift) disclosed they had signed for five plus five options, bringing the total to 100. Halvorson Family Goes Shopping The Halvorson family’s Papillon Airways Inc., the world’s largest helicopter tour operator, is purchasing seven Eurocopter EC130B4s, with an option for eight more. Meanwhile, the Halvorson family’s Rainier Heli-Lift, the Kirkland, WA corporation that provides charter services for the natural resources sector, firefighting, government contracting and business travel, is buying five AS350B2s and five EC145s from American Eurocopter. The EC130s will be used for sightseeing flights over the Grand Canyon. JLT Group Buys Six EC155s for Leasing American Eurocopter announced the sale of six EC155 to JLT Group Inc. These helicopters will be the basis of a new helicopter leasing initiative. EC Sells Eight Copper Choppers Sales of seven AS350B2s and one EC145 to three police departments were announced here by American Eurocopter. The Texas Department of Public Safety signed up for five AS350B2s and one EC145; when received, the new aircraft will join the existing Texas DPS fleet of nine AS350B2s. The Los Angeles Police Department ordered a 14th AS350B2, and the Anaheim Police Department Air Support Unit a second AS350B2. Sikorsky Takes 16 Orders Amongst the Sikorsky announcements at Heli-Expo were orders from PHI for six S-76C++ and six S-92 medium twin-engined helicopters, and four additional S-92s for VIH Aviation Group of Canada, bringing its S-92 fleet to 11 aircraft. Bell Reports Banner 2007 for Orders Bell Helicopter took orders for 365 helicopters last year, driving its backlog 28% higher than in 2006 to $3.8 billion. It announced another order here at Heli-Expo for two Bell 407s from CBOSS Corp. in Russia. The company plans an all-Bell fleet of 14 aircraft, comprising Bell 407s, 429s and anew VIP Bell 430 that was delivered last year. Bell also announced a repeat order from Air Methods for six Bell 407s, two additional Bell 407s for Helicopter Flight Services, Inc., of New York, and two Bell 429s to Rotorcraft Leasing. 4 www.aviationweek.com/shownews February 26, 2008 http://www.aviationweek.com/shownews
