That sounds bad, given recent financial news. But the private aviation market is not significantly influenced by such a narrowly defined obstacle, Jenning Dane Jenning. says. “Should the impacts of the credit crunch become manifested in significant declines in the stock market or corporate profits, we should be cautious of a softening in the aircraft market.” “We in the aircraft market need to start watching for signals that will cause a reduction in demand,” the ex-Cessna man advises. Also in the aircraft industry’s favor? “The strength of international market demand is at all-time highs, and the continuing weakness of the dollar will feed the strength of this critical market and perhaps soften the market’s exposure to the impacts of the credit crunch or even a stock market downturn.” But Jenning also says that there could be a parallel between the economic credit crunch and the aircraft market. “The credit crunch is the result of a glut of cash looking for places to work and our having come to the time to pay up for stretching the traditional rules of lending,” he says. “Turn your eye to the aircraft market and see record deliveries of new aircraft over the past several years followed up by record backlogs. If historical patterns hold true, a new airplane delivering in 2007 will be on the resale market between 2010 and 2012. Record new deliveries will ultimately result in increased inventory in the resale market inventory.” And for airplanes lacking sterling service records and other bona fides, that means lower prices. When Dane Jenning isn’t working for aviation clients, he’s raising state-of-the-art Dalmatians, most notably Apple, the reigning U.S. National Champion.
