Watch, too, for NetJets to promote measures like increased recycling at FBOs and, again with Schwarzenegger, to help fund a program to install solar power at California schools. Closer to home, NetJets has a new initiative to improve its cabin interiors. NetJets tapped the UK’s Foster and Partners to help with its Falcon 7X cabins, and is looking now for greater durability across the fleet. “We have to come up with materials inside the cabin that work better for us,” Santulli says. “The stuff has to look nicer and wear nicer.” Suppliers will be called on to cooperate with better warrantees and service. Clouds on the horizon? Congestion, he says, “is bad in a lot of places”—not just New Jersey. “The 44 infrastructure to me is the key,” he says. “The real issue going forward is, if the industry continues to grow, where are we going to put them all?” Beyond room on the apron for all the airplanes, there’s the question of people. “Are there enough qualified mechanics?” Santulli asks. “Are there going to be enough people to do interiors?” But for now, all is well. “This year will be our best year ever, by a lot.” “Of course we have competition,” Santulli says. But he adds, “I don’t understand why anyone would do business with anyone but us. I think we run the best airplane operation in the world.” Are you a salesman? Show News asked. Santulli seemed to like the question. “That’s what I love. I love selling.” He’s pretty good at it, too.
