N B A A 2 0 07 Landmark’s AAC Unit Does Banner Business Dallas Love-based Associated Air Center is doing a banner business in big business jets, talking up a contract for its 18th Boeing Business Jet completion as it works to outfit Airbus Corporate Jetliners as well. “The market has exploded in the past year or so,” says AAC president Jeff Bosque. “We’ve had three deliveries so far this year” (two BBJs and one ACJ), he said, and “we anticipate three more by the end of the year” (two ACJs and one BBJ) for an evenly split total of six. The 18th BBJ is at the AAC facility at DAL, where preliminary work began in July. It will receive a “cutting-edge, luxury interior including a living/media room, a dining room, master and guest bedrooms, and a bar/galley,” Bosque says, and it will be redelivered to the customer with its new “yachtinspired cabin environment” in mid-2008 for a completion time of 14 months. AAC is also this week reporting delivery of its 15th BBJ to a customer in Eastern Europe, and its 16th, a BBJ 737-700, to a New York-based corporate customer with offices in Europe. The jet for the Eastern European customer arrived at AAC in mid-2006 and has been fitted with LED mood lighting “to simulate different times of the day or night,” a dining/ conference room, an aft lounge, a master suite and lavatory (with shower and heated tile floor), a galley, and security and work areas. The aft lounge has a divan that converts into a full-size bed. The aircraft has 20 executive seat and divan positions, 17 of which are certified for taxi, takeoff and landing. “Original artwork furnished by the customer decorates each interior space,” AAC says. The BBJ 737-700 for the transatlantic corporate customer has been outfitted as a highly functional, comfortable office in the sky, AAC AAC suggests this meeting area for a Boeing 737-700 business jet. “This aircraft offers VVIP comfort and leading-edge cabin functionality.” —AAC president Jeff Bosque says. The interior includes spacious living and dining areas adjacent to a full galley, office/guest room, master bedroom, master lavatory equipped with a shower, and “complete cabin management system that, in addition to business functionality, also offers games and entertainment.” It’s decorated in light wood and faux finishes. The aircraft seats 19 passengers. AAC has also delivered the first of three ACJs for Hong Kong’s China Sonangol, which was the first Chinese customer for the ACJ to be identified. “This aircraft offers VVIP comfort and leading-edge cabin functionality,” says Bosque, with full business office and luxury living spaces, including a master bedroom and master lavatory equipped with shower. A full cabin management system offers music and movies, featuring four 32-inch LCD monitors in the conference and dining areas. Four 20-inch LCD monitors are located in the office, forward lounge and crew lounge. A second ACJ for China Sonangol is to be completed this year. China Sonangol is a joint venture of Sonangol EP, the national oil company of Angola. Collins Tailwind for the ACJ Associated Air Center reports an STC approval for installation of the Rockwell Collins Tailwind 550 Satellite TV system on the Airbus Corporate Jet. “This system offers a full range of TV programming in the cabin whether in flight or on the ground,” said AAC president Jeff Bosque. The system has a fuselage-mounted antenna that rotates 360 degrees while pivoting -10 to +90 degrees for greater up and down angle, with a dynamic reaction rate enabling it to quickly stay on target. The Tailwind 550 can be configured for multiple zones throughout the cabin. AAC Is Now a Part of DAE AAC is a Class IV FAA-certified repair station and can perform major overhauls, structural modifications, avionics upgrades and heavy maintenance. Like Standard Aero and Landmark Aviation, AAC is now a unit of the engineering division of Dubai Aerospace Enterprise. They form a global services network of 12 primary facilities in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Singapore and Australia, with an additional 14 regionally located service and support locations. “We’re pleased with our new ownership,” AAC president Jeff Bosque told Show News before NBAA. “Our focus will remain on our customers,” he said, with continued emphasis on “personal and specialized services including outstanding technical capabilities, artistry and working closely with them at every step of the design and completion of their luxury interiors. “Under DAE, we have a renewed effort on operational excellence,” Bosque said, “and we will look for ways to sensibly grow the business. We have a number of customers from the Middle East.
