The 14-year veteran just wants to share with visitors all that the Granite State has to offer. As regional supervisor of the Great North Woods Management Area, Young oversees five campgrounds, three wayside picnic areas and 146,000 acres open to the public. Camp at Lake Francis State Park, and Young says, you’ll see some of the brightest stars in the sky. Or to get away from it all, book one of Umbagog State Park’s remote campsites, accessible only by boat. Young’s other recommendations: Hike to Indian Stream Canyon, Garfield Falls or Hellgate Falls. Enjoy the natural beauty and vistas at Dixville Notch. Hike the Cohos Trail through Coleman State Park. Camp at Deer Mountain and hike to Moose Falls. The park includes a base park campground with 35 sites, three cabins, and 34 remote campsites in isolated locations around Umbagog Lake accessible only by boat.
