Official VISIT FLORIDA Travel Guide 2008 - (Page 116) Travel tips U.S. entry requirements The UK and Ireland are Visa Waiver nations, so citizens of these countries travelling with a valid passport do not need a visa for a holiday stay of 90 days or less. For longer stays, international visitors should obtain a B-2 visitor visa (non-immigrant, pleasure tourist). Business travellers need a different type of visa. The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows nationals from certain countries to travel to the U.S. for tourism or business stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. Currently, 27 countries are active participants in this program, including France, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. (A complete list of participating countries is available on the travel.state.gov web site.) In order to travel under this program, potential visitors must have not been found ineligible for a U.S. visa and must have a machine-readable passport. Passports issued or renewed/extended on or after October 26, 2006 require an integrated chip with information from the data page (e-Passport). When arriving in the U.S. by air or sea, travellers must be on an approved carrier (nearly all major airlines and cruise ship companies are approved) and have a return ticket already booked. Travellers must also be able to demonstrate that their stay in the U.S. will not exceed 90 days and that they have sufficient funds to support themselves while in the country.
