It was built between 1939-42 by local craftsmen who made the camp’s original structures from native logs and stones. The camp presents the annual Appalachian String Band Music Festival which attracts visitors from across the country and around the world. “Sweets and Sounds,” a musical concert series, is scheduled in the fall in the Great Chestnut Lodge. The camp is also used as a beautiful retreat for family reunions, weddings and corporate picnics.
