Fishing Bluestone Lake Offering more than 2,000 acres of fishing for bluegill, large- and smallmouth bass, hybrid bass, striped bass and crappie, the 10.7-mile-long Bluestone Lake has a marina just three miles south of the dam that provides docking, boat rentals, fuel, fishing supplies, bait and snacks. Hunting State’s Public Lands Hunting and fishing are both time-honored traditions in West Virginia, and hundreds of thousands of sportsmen take to the woods each year in search of some sort of quarry. Summersville Lake One of the best large and smallmouth bass fishing lakes in the state, Summersville is also stocked at the tailwater in the fall with trout. The 2,700-acre lake is a popular fishing spot for walleye, bluegill, crappie and channel catfish, as well as the occasional rainbow trout. Nearby Summersville offers camping, motels, restaurants, shopping and full-service marine shops.
