Fashion Stops in Miami Beach South Beach’s status as a hub for the world’s jet setters has, of course, made it one of the biggest retail destinations in the nation. But even better, the town has become a sort of lab where top brand names show off their best wares in the newest and most advanced store designs. Miami Beach’s Lincoln Road is home to many of these stores including a showroom of the Finnish fabric and fashion brand Marimekko, a music-themed edition of Starbucks, the menswear shop of Original Penguin by Munsingwear Above, a view of Lincoln Road Mall. and the drug store Kiehl’s. For instance, the Starbucks Hear Music Coffeehouse doesn’t just sell coffee and music, but is instead a total experience featuring Latin music (it opened with an appearance by Sergio Mendes). The store is unique to Miami, and was designed by the noted architecture firm Gwathmey Siegel & Associates. While these stores give the area identity, traditional upscale retailers including Apple, Design Within Reach and American Apparel are also present, making the streetscape a sort of encyclopedia of American retailing. Many of those retailers in Miami Beach, including Macy’s, have expanded their offerings to include items especially for Florida.
