Like to bike? Take a leisurely pedal along the 9.7-mile paved trail through Oil Creek State Park (between Meadville and Tidioute), or get off-road on the 15-mile mountain biking path from Denton Hill to Cherry Springs state parks (near Galeton). Day hikers and backpackers should look for the 30-mile Bucktail Path from Sizerville to Sinnemahoning state parks (south of Coudersport), or the 85-mile Susquehannock Trail through Susquehannock State Forest (near Coudersport). ON ROUTE 6 IS… National Geographic referred to the Route 6 stretch as “one of America’s most scenic drives.” Start in Linesville - this charming town is the starting point to Route 6. Meander over to Edinboro’s Wooden Nickel Buffalo Farm, which was once a dairy farm. Anglers take heed: Pack your fishing gear and head for the Allegheny Reservoir. This 12,000-acre impoundment is teeming with bass, walleye, pike, perch and trophy-sized muskies that top 40 pounds. Winter sports don’t get much better than Ski Denton in Coudersport. Denton Hill State Park boasts the steepest slopes in the eastern states, plus gentle beginner trails, tubing and a snowboard park. Get star-struck in Cherry Springs State Park. With close to zero light pollution, the Northeast’s only official Dark Sky Preserve is a great place to explore the universe. Wind through the northern reaches of Susquehannock State Forest to explore Galeton’s Pennsylvania Lumber Museum. The early timber industry is brought to life in a fully re-created logging camp.
