Built in 1924, the Reba Sutton White Chapel is an ideal setting for your own historic occasion. The restored secular chapel constructed from salvaged, handmade bricks has original heart of pine floors, a simple white interior (a perfect backdrop for any color scheme) and tall, stained-glass windows. It is operated by a non-profit and accommodates up to 150 people, as does the newer Harbor Hall, an adjacent reception and banquet facility with exposed-beam ceilings. 727-787-4700, www.thepalmharborwhitechapel.org The Grand Perfect for brides who want a palatial wedding, the Kapok Tree Event Center has a majestic room for every stage of your celebration. In anticipation of the ceremony, guests can mingle in the richly appointed bar. When the bridal march begins, glide down the aisle beneath golden arches in the large glass-walled Florida room. Make a stunning entrance to the reception down a maroon-carpeted stairway into the grand, two-story ballroom, where you can dance beneath a massive and opulent chandelier. The tropical garden with Greek columns, fountains and statuettes is an ideal spot for photos. 727-725-8733, www.kapokspecialevents.com The Beach An ocean sunset with the blue surf bubbling white against a sandy beach is a natural romantic backdrop for your wedding. With 35 miles of white sand beaches, the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area has no shortage of places to stand in the sand and say “I do. ” Honeymoon Island is particularly suited in name and amenities. Named for a developer’s 1940s promotion that brought newlyweds there to honeymoon, the isle is now a state park. Park vendor Café Honeymoon offers wedding packages with a casual buffet reception. For a more formal reception, continue the celebration on the mainland at Bon Appétit Restaurant & Inn in Dunedin. 727-733-2151, www.bonappetitrestaurant.com/ weddings/index.html The Garden Say your vows in a tropical oasis amidst hundreds of blossoming plants, colorful butterflies, towering palms and shady live oaks. At historic Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg, there’s always something in bloom and pools and fountains at most every turn of its meandering walkways. One of St. Petersburg’s early tourist attractions, Sunken Gardens has hosted weddings since 1935. Now city-owned, you can still say vows on the historic wedding lawn. An oak-shaded pavilion and a butterfly garden are also popular ceremony spots. A renovated 1920s reception hall with unique, high wood ceilings overlooks the gardens. 727-551-3106, www.stpete.org/sunken/sgweddings.asp ~ LW www.VisitStPeteClearwater.com 15 http://www.thepalmharborwhitechapel.org http://www.floridaweddingceremony.com http://www.aperfectwitness.com http://www.allenweddings.net http://www.beachceremoniesbyjules.com http://www.kapokspecialevents.com http://ww.bellaroseevents.com http://www.cmweddingep.com http://www.cherishedceremonies.com http://www.crystalweddingsandevents.com http://www.dialm.net http://www.eventsbyspecialmoments.com http://www.bonappetitrestaurant.com/weddings/index.html http://www.bonappetitrestaurant.com/weddings/index.html http://www.afloridabeachwedding.net http://www.phylliseig.com http://www.signaturesocialevents.com http://www.weddingwows.net http://www.weddingsonawhim.com http://www.weddingsonwater.com http://www.stpete.org/sunken/sgweddings.asp http://www.weddingsbyjulie.com http://www.VisitStPeteClearwater.com
