WHAT SHOULD BE ON EVERY VISITOR'S TO -DO LIST.
As told to Martha-Page Althaus
"The best thing about living in Ventura is the
beach and having the ocean right next to
you every day. I love to go boogie boarding
down by the pier and at Mondos Beach."
"We take pride in where we live and work.
There are so many places where the owner
will be in the kitchen or behind the counter.
The community support is wonderful. We
know we're lucky to live here."
"I work in the entertainment business as
a music manager for Brad Paisley, Olivia
Newton-John, and others. I moved here
from Hollywood for the slower-paced
lifestyle. People are surprised when they
discover Ventura. You really get that
ACTOR, VENTURA NATIVE
(TEN YEARS AND COUNTING!)
To-do list: Kayak Ventura Harbor to
see fishing boats and animals like seals
and birds. Then go to Coastal Cone Ice
Cream afterward, or to Surf N' Yogurt on
Seaward Avenue, right by the beach. I love
their tart yogurt with Boba balls mixed
in. I also really like hiking the Botanical
Gardens with my dog Rosie, a German
Shephard mix. You can see the whole
coastline from up there.

SURF CAMPS, ESCAPES & TRAVELS
To-do list: I like to take people hiking, then
go out to the Channel Islands the
next day. Ventura has fun restaurants
like Café Zack. The food is fresh and the
owners are always excited to be there.
Paradise Pantry is another great one.
The food and wine is outstanding, and it's
just a fun, happy place to be.
COMPANY; REAL-ESTATE DEVELOPER
To-do list: Walk around downtown at
night. We have a vibrant music scene. On
the weekends, it's not surprising to see 15
to 20 performers around town. Come to
the Star Lounge, an old dive bar with live
music four nights a week.
