MYtHs AND cHALLeNGes MYTHS 11 Myth #5: Military personnel issues don’t really affect family members. TRUTH: If force levels are cut, more frequent deployments mean more family separation. If pay isn’t adjusted properly or benefits are attacked, that means tighter family budgets. Every single year, Congress acts on family support programs, survivor benefits and more.
