T R U T H : U n f o r t u n a t e l y, military leaders are usually forced to live within a specific budget. They’re often asked to choose between weapons and people programs. MOAA works hard to remind Congress that a strong defense requires funding both people and weapons, but it’s an uphill battle. It takes thousands of individual phone calls, e-mails and letters from you and other military spouses and family members to ensure that happens. Myth #7: My unique problem isn’t a concern for MOAA or Congress. TRUTH: Many individual problems are signs of broader problems. On countless occasions, a member has brought a “unique problem” to MOAA only to find that the issue is much more common and working it in Congress can help others who wear the uniform and their families.
