Prior to the celebration, Ryan attended a meeting of the Arizona Council of Chapters, where he presented Five-Star Levels of Excellence awards to the presidents of the Arizona and Luke chapters. Ryan and several council members also visited with Brig. Gen. Richard “Greg” Maxon, assistant adjutant general of the Arizona Army National Guard, and Sgt. George Murphy, an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran. The visit allowed Ryan and council members to learn about the needs of guardmembers and their families. According to president-elect Lt. Cmdr. Terry Tassin, USN-Ret., the Arizona Chapter will continue to focus on its scholarship, personal affairs, legislative, membership, Junior ROTC awards, and social programs in 2007. The chapter also hopes to expand its scholarship fund program. “I see a busy and challenging year ahead of us,” says Tassin. “Our success will depend on continued member support.” MO — Contributors are Col.
