Read on to learn more about your fellow MOAA members. Col. Peter J. Bunce, USAF-Ret. (member since 1997): In January, Airport Journals named Bunce “Aviation Industry Leader of the Year.” Bunce, a Wisconsin native, flew fighters in his 26 years on active duty, with his final job being director of the Air Force Congressional Budget and Appropriations Liaison Office. He has been president and CEO of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association for three years. Col. Joe Cordina, USAFR-Ret. (life member since 2004): In January, Cordina received the U.S. Air Force Academy’s lifetime achievement award for his service in command roles and, for the past seven years as a retiree, his service as an academy liaison officer for Northeast Texas-area schools. He is the Air Force Academy liaison to Rep. Sam Johnson (R-Texas) and assists in the nominating process. The award caps 30 consecutive years of service to the Air Force Academy. Roselyn and Lt. Col. Robert F. Danner, USA-Ret. (member since 2003): The Danners came out of retirement to plan events including the inauguration of a new president of Houghton College, N.Y., where Bob was vice president of Student Affairs for 20 years. Roselyn founded the college’s art display gallery program and received the President’s Advisory Board’s annual award in 2002. In September, Bob completed his 26th year as the advisor to Houghton’s ROTC cadets. Brig. Gen. Francis G. Mahon, USA (life member since 1998): Mahon is deputy commanding general of U.S. Army North (USARNORTH), Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and a 28-year Air Defense Artillery officer; he previously commanded the 32nd Army Air & Missile Defense Command. USARNORTH is responsible for homeland defense and support to civil authorities as well as theater security cooperation with Mexico and Canada.
