Arthroscopic Error [“The Kindest Cut,” June 2006] refers to Dr. Jess Lonner in Philadelphia doing “arthroscopic” total knee replacements. As an orthopedic surgeon I want to know if there is something that I’m not doing, so I called Dr. Lonner’s ofﬁce, and they informed me that the article is in fact incorrect, that an arthroscope is not used during the operation. Perhaps in a future issue, some retraction of this needs to be addressed. It came to my attention from a patient who needs knee replacement, and he wanted it done that way.
