You wanted to be an astronaut as a kid. What made you decide to become an Air Force pilot? When I was 9 years old, the crew for [the president’s plane] stayed at our house when they were flying the Apollo 11 astronauts around on their press tour. In the military, it’s the people who work by your side who keep you proud of what you’re doing. — Kris Ann Hegle Soldier Registry he Army Historical Foundation is creating a registry that will contain the names and service records of U.S. soldiers in conjunction with the campaign to establish a National Museum of the U.S. Army (scheduled to open at Fort Belvoir, Va., in five to six years). More than 14,000 soldiers and veterans have been entered into the online registry, which also will be displayed at the National Museum of the U.S. Army. Information can be entered by veteran and currently serving active and reserve soldiers, family members and friends of deceased veterans, and descendants of soldiers who served in the active Army, National Guard, Army Reserve, Army Air Corps (Army Air Forces), Women’s Army Corps, and Women’s Army Air Corps from 1775 to the present.
