OCTOBER 2007 Chapter Activities Gets a Makeover W hen you pick up the November Military Officer, you’ll notice some changes to the Chapter Activities section. The new section, which will be called Chapters in Action, has been redesigned so more of the outstanding work being done by our chapter members and councils can be covered. In the past, we’ve reported on subjects of interest to chapter members and showcased individual chapters’ efforts. Beginning in November, we’ll examine topics of interest to every MOAA member such as lobbying to exempt military retired pay from state income tax or starting local programs that support military members and their families. Then, we’ll describe how several chapters approach these issues and are working to make a difference in their communities. Council and Chapter Affairs Director Col. Lee Lange II, USMC-Ret., will continue to share his insights about what’s going on in MOAA’s chapter and council world. A new section, From the Field, will contain short articles about chapters’ successful projects and programs, fundraising efforts, and lobbying initiatives. Also look for polls, discussion topics, and updates about MOAA’s Give Me 10! recruiting campaign. MILITARY OFFICER 43
