On The Move - 2nd Quarter 2008 - (Page 9) DISTRIBuTOR SPOTLIGhT TOM MITchELL—MONAVIE STRONGMAN Tom Mitchell, MonaVie distributor, and Atlas, the well-known figure of Greek mythology who carried the world on his shoulders, have several things in common. Both are rather large, muscular individuals and can carry a considerable amount of weight. However, Mitchell boasts one title that Atlas will never have—Strongman champion. Mitchell, 47 pressed, lifted, flipped, , threw, and carried his way to first place in the Masters Heavyweight Division of the 2007 North American Strongman Championship in McPherson, Kansas. No small feat for the 6’2”, 315 lb., ordained minister from Clearwater, Florida, who won his first national competition. “I had been ramping up with MonaVie,” he said, describing how he consumed a half bottle of MonaVie daily in the weeks leading up to the event. And just prior to the competition, Mitchell consumed 14—yes, 14—MonaVie Gel packs. Mitchell competed in several events during the competition, including the overhead pressing medley, which consists of lifting four different objects of various weights over the head; the Fingals Fingers, in which a 14-foot pipe is pressed above the head; and the frame carry, in which a participant stands inside an enclosed 600-pound frame and carries it 80 feet. “I felt confident having MonaVie as my ‘training partner,’” said Mitchell, who achieved his personal best in almost every event. Mitchell said his success at the competition has inspired him in his MonaVie business. “If anybody should be able to get to Diamond level, it should be me,” he said. “I’ve got a pretty good story.”
