A 403-room Embassy Suites is scheduled to open in December 2010 with 21,000 square feet of meeting space and a 13-story, glass-curtain “sky lobby/atrium.” Denver will become the ﬁrst major U.S. city to offer a bike-sharing program, with 500 red B-cycles located at 40 stations throughout the city. are often taken for granted—and when change occurs, they get turned upside down. For Debbie Des Roches, director of trade show and membership services for SnowSports Industries America (SIA), change was the biggest challenge of the 2010 SIA Snow Show. Held annually since 1954, the Snow Show has taken place in Las Vegas for the last 37 years. But in 2010, SIA moved to Denver to become the largest convention booking in the city’s history. “Our contracts were up for renewal in Las Vegas, so we decided to review our options,” Des Roches said. “The proposal from Denver ﬁt our needs the best.” With 18,000 snow sports industry representatives from across the U.S., the event boasted 3,120 booths, more than 125 new exhibitors and more than 800 brands. Snowboard, cross country, snowshoe and many other snow-related apparel and accessory companies, retailers, resorts, associations and buying groups gathered in Denver for four days to promote and celebrate the industry.
