TOP W Scottsdale I was in Scottsdale, Arizona, for a meeting with the Scottsdale CVB in October and got a first-hand look at the attention to detail and customer service for which the W brand has come to be known. Scottsdale is stunningly beautiful in October, with mild temperatures both night and day, sunny, with cloudless skies and very little wind, and the meeting and event space at the W Scottsdale took full advantage of the outdoors with multiple patios and private reception areas along with their large ballroom and breakout meeting spaces. Scottsdale is also a very walkable city, and the W hotel is right on the “waterfront” in the center of it all— seven miles from the Phoenix International Airport and just blocks from the shopping and arts districts. But, one venue I wanted to see wasn’t within walking distance, and the W staff was happy to help out. A driver picked me up, drove me seven miles to Arcosanti—where the famous Soleri windbells are made— waited with me for 20 minutes and returned me to the hotel. It’s a service the W offers to all its guests free of charge and just one example of the exemplary customer service I experienced during my stay. —David R. Basler Spots Westin Peachtree Plaza The Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta, Georgia, re-opened last fall after a multimillion-dollar window replacement project, and it also now offers additional meeting space. Guests can access an additional 65,000 square feet of meeting space through a seventh-story bridge connecting the hotel to 200 Peachtree in the former Macy’s space. The two buildings offer a total of 145,000 square feet of meeting space.
