You designed a save-the-date postcard and bulk mailed it to your mailing lists. Perhaps you had advertising drawn up and placed in your major trade journals. You started working on your brochure, also to be bulk mailed. And you waited. You might have even wanted some input into what would happen during the conference, so you included a call for topics. one+ 03 / 0 4.11 The technology back in the MIA (Meeting Iron Age) consisted primarily of a computer with word processing and desktop publishing programs, maybe a laser printer and a fax machine. If you were really high tech, you published your meeting announcement on the World Wide Web as an electronic brochure. Online registration may have been an option, but not everybody trusted sending their information over the Internet, so interested parties downloaded the registration form and faxed or mailed it in.
