Conservatorium Hotel Amsterdam The 128-room Conservatorium Hotel Amsterdam opens this month as part of the Design Hotels collection. The hotel pays tribute to the Amsterdam Conservatorium’s legacy as soothing classical music selections echo through its vaulted ceilings. Several communal dining outlets—three cafes, restaurants and bars—offer guests the opportunity to enjoy convivial outings and discover new local ﬂavors and culinary talents. Baha Mar Baha Mar, a resort on The Bahamas, began construction in February. The 1,000-acre, US$3.4 billion resort, gaming and entertainment complex, slated to open in late 2014, will include some of the world’s most famous hotel brands, a 200,000-squarefoot convention center, a 100,000-square-foot casino, a 50,000-square-foot retail village and a 20-acre water park. Cobo Conference & Exhibition Center The Detroit (Michigan) Regional Convention Facility Authority has unveiled a three-year, $221 million plan for the reinvention of the Cobo Conference & Exhibition Center. Upgrades include renovation of Cobo Arena as a 40,000-square-foot ballroom and the creation of a new “signature space” for Cobo Center as a spacious, three-story glass atrium.
