When you run a multigenerational family business, the pressure is on to get things right. Jim D’Addario, chairman and CEO of D’Addario & Co. in Farmingdale, N.Y., knows firsthand about the complex dynamics involved in running such an endeavor. He and his brother John D’Addario, Jr., grew up in the company of string makers. Today, there are 11 immediate family members involved with the company as employees and stockholders.
