NAMM Announces Formation of NAMM International, LLC New Association Branch Office to Open in the United kingdom Specifically Dedicated to the Business Needs of International NAMM Members NAMM recently announced the formation of NAMM International, LLC, a new branch of the association that will service the needs of Members abroad, which now make up 23 percent of NAMM’s overall Membership base. Betty Heywood, NAMM’s director of international affairs, will oversee NAMM’s office in the U.K. beginning later this summer. “NAMM International will allow us to more effectively support the needs of our Members around the world as well as make their NAMM show participation even more valuable to their businesses,” says Heywood. “Additionally, having a base in Europe will be beneficial to our ongoing work in developing and supporting global music products markets as well as mutually sharing best practices from NAMM and its Members in the United States.” In addition, the Coalition for Music Education in Canada created a 30-second television PSA to launch the celebration. The animated spot included an original soundtrack composed by Ari Posner of Pirate and recorded by CBC Radio with Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra (which was directed Alexander Mickelthwate, the Music Director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra). The celebration of Music Monday included hundreds of thousands of students, teachers, parents, professional and community musicians and music organizations from across Canada who united for a nationwide simultaneous concert by performing “Our Song,” composed by Canadian singer/songwriters Amanda Walther and Sheila Carabine, DALA.
