Playback - Summer 2008 - (Page 30) MUSIC NOTES NAMM Hits the Road with the Disney Family Music Tour The first-ever Disney Family Music Tour kicks off this summer, and NAMM will be there at every stop, sharing the benefits of music making with the thousands of parents and kids in attendance. Beginning in July, the Disney Family Music Tour will host 23 live shows in nine markets across the Northeastern United States, with an estimated total attendance of more than 150,000 children— ages 4 to 8—and their parents. The festival features live music acts from Playhouse Disney’s stable of performers, including Choo Choo Soul, The Imagination Movers, Dan Zanes and Ralph’s World, as well as special appearances by They Might Be Giants and Raven. There will also be a variety of activity zones focused on stimulating the imagination through music, arts and play, where attendees are encouraged to discover their inner superstar in a fun, kid-friendly environment. NAMM will host the Wanna Play? interactive music area of the festival, which will feature numerous hands-on opportunities to explore real musical instruments, educational information about musical instruments and performance opportunities with facilitated drum circles and sing-alongs. In addition, there will be an area for advocacy and marketing materials and a dealer locator to help parents find their closest NAMM Retail Member for instruments and lessons. NAMM Retail Members in each market will be invited to represent their store at the Wanna Play? interactive music area and talk to local parents about music.
