Playback - Winter 2008 - (Page 31) Little Kids Rock Music Ed Curriculum Now Available on iTunes U NAMM GRANTEE oFFERS FREE MUSIC lESSoNS FoR ChIlDREN AT ThE ClICk oF A MoUSE. Little Kids Rock (LKR), a non-profit program that provides free instruments and music instruction for public school students, is now part of iTunes U, Apple’s free educational program, making it possible for the millions of iTunes users to benefit from LKR’s free curriculum and video lessons. Little Kids Rock’s iTunes U site includes 50 free video drum lessons, 40 interactive animated drum lessons, 20 guitar lessons, a guitar book to coincide with lessons, a drumbeat book coinciding with lessons, an activity book, access to student videos—and cool PC wallpaper. As of press time, an LKR video featuring Carmine Appice (longtime drummer for Rod Stewart) was in the iTunes U Top Ten, while LKR’s guitar and drum lessons were in the Top 20. Little Kids Rock teaches children how to play pop, rock, funk, blues, rap and hip-hop; students not only perform, they also compose and record their own music and music videos.
