We have an outstanding retention rate.” SchoolJam Battle Rocks Texas Once More NAMM-FUNDED CONTEST ENABLES TEEN MUSICIANS TO COMPETE FOR THE TITLE OF “BEST BAND IN TExAS,” INSPIRING THEIR PEERS TO PLAY AND SUPPORTING THEIR SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAMS IN THE PROCESS. The Second Annual SchoolJam Battle is now on and later this month the 20 top contenders will be narrowed down to a field of six. Voting for the music competition began November 21 at www.schooljamtexas.com, and continues until January 31. Visitors to the Web site can cast a vote for their favorite band once a day and have the chance to win prizes just for participating in the voting process. On February 2, SchoolJam will announce the top six finalists, who will then compete at the SchoolJam Texas battle of the bands in Austin on February 28. The SchoolJam Texas battle of the bands helps highlight the state’s best and most talented teens while supporting the music education programs in their schools. The winning band will get $750 toward new musical equipment and their school’s music program will receive $5,000 to put toward new musical equipment at their local NAMM Member retailer of choice. The remaining five bands and their schools will also receive gift certificates to use at their local NAMM Member store of choice.
