Tourism Tourism is important to Bulloch County and significant to the county’s economic well-being. Proximity to tourism-driven Savannah, along with the presence of Georgia Southern University, ensures a wealth of accommodations, now hovering at around 1,000 guest rooms. More than 300 retail shops, boutiques, and galleries are here, complemented by more than 100 restaurants. The four-year old county-owned and operated Splash in the ‘Boro Aquatic Center, featuring a summer water park, draws more than 60 percent of its nearly 100,000-plus visitors annually from outside Bulloch County. It features a competition-sized swimming pool that can be winterized with an inflatable dome for regional and state competitive events. The facility is located in Mill Creek Regional Park, another outstanding recreation venue for visitors, which also attracts both state and national events. The Averitt Center for the Arts and the Emma Kelly Theater in downtown Statesboro are prominent local attractions as well.
