Georgia County Government - February 2008 - (Page 36) NEGOTIATING continued from page 35 Planning » Programming » Design/Construction Management » Facility Maintenance LEADINGTHE WAY With over 30 years experience and $3.5 billion worth of public projects, CGL has the knowledge and expertise to assist you in every phase of project development. CGL will lead the way by thoroughly assessing your facility needs; providing planning and programming documents; managing the design and construction phases (including budget, schedule and quality control); and will follow through with a maintenance plan to protect the life of your building(s). As a Georgia corporation, having served more than 30 Georgia counties, you can trust that CGL will manage your capital improvement projects so you can focus on managing your County. FOLLOWING THROUGH 3. Describe all supporting details. This includes descriptions of all project assumptions of who provides what, when and how. It also describes any known constraints such as site demolition and the removal of waste before, during and after construction. 4. Outline the scope management plan. It is important to outline how the project scope will be managed, who will be the public entity’s overall project manager and who will be involved during project milestone reviews. It is advisable that a separate document be produced that outlines how agreed-upon changes will be incorporated into the project deliverables. This document should also describe the scope change process. A cross reference to this document should be included in the Scope of Work statement and management plan. These documents – the Scope of Work, the Scope Management Plan and the Scope Change Process – should be reviewed by all stakeholders. The Scope Statement forms the basis for all processes in the scope-planning phase of any project. This is the first step and an essential element in completing a successful negotiation ■ with a professional service firm. Editor’s note: Next month’s issue will feature Part 2 of this article, “Developing a Request for a Proposal or Statement of Qualifications.” Following, Part 3 “Negotiating the Contract with the Most Qualified Company or Service Provider,” will appear in the April issue. 6:38:30 PM A World of Solutions 11790 Northfall Lane, Suite 403 • Alpharetta, Georgia 30004 • 770.716.0081 / 678.990.1919 Fax 795 East Lanier Avenue • Fayetteville, Georgia 30214 • 770.716.0081 / 770.716.9081 Fax 1801-B Gloucester Street • Brunswick, Georgia 31520 • 912.264.0357 / 912.264.0377 Fax 1619 Sumter Street • Columbia, South Carolina 29201 • 803.765.2833 / 803.779.8518 Fax 10 G Street NE, Suite 650 • Washington, DC 20002 • 202.289.5600 / 202.289.8688 Fax www.cartergoblelee.com 339194_Carter.indd 1 8/28/07 36 GEORGIA 358169_QBS.indd 1 COUNTY GOVERNMENT 12/17/07 11:09:45 PM 351133_Moreland.indd 1 11/7/07 10:44:14 AM http://www.cartergoblelee.com http://www.maai.net http://www.qbsgeorgia.org
