Georgia County Government - March 2009 - (Page 5) President’sMessage Formally Adopted Strategic Plan Takes ACCG to the ‘Next Level’ very year around this time, I get excited anticipating the Annual Meeting of the Association Count y Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), which convenes in Savannah in April. This is the association’s highest profile event, affording a unique opportunity to interface with representatives of state and federal government, lawmakers, hundreds of vendors of products and services at the annual County Buyers’ Mart, and our colleagues. By Jan Tankersley In addition, we are exposed to unique forums President on a host of policy matters and the ACCG Board of Managers conducts important business. This year’s Annual Meeting will see a true milestone, as the ACCG Board of Managers submits the new ACCG Strategic Plan to the full membership for approval. It encompasses the next five years, setting priorities, goals and actions, with opportunities for review and adjustment by the Board of Managers, as deemed appropriate. I am excited about this plan for ma ny reasons, a nd f i r mly believe that it will take our already esteemed association to a new level of effectiveness with regard to all our efforts on behalf of county government in Georgia. Our strategic plan is designed to encourage more participation in ACCG events and important member services such as training, enhance communications, identify additional cost-saving measures for counties, and keep us on a path for organizational excellence. I, along with other members of the Board of Managers, am fully committed to its implementation. Highlights included in the plan can only be touched on in an editorial, but you as members will see immediate benefits as the Board of Managers and ACCG staff move forward.
