This bolstered network of fi rst responders augments emergency room vehicles incorporating a full range of emergency medical equipment stationed in ambulance precincts around Dublin. In outlying areas the fi rst responders, with all the emergency medical equipment needed, are fully trained and equipped to treat medical emergency cases until the patients are transported to the hospital of choice – Fairview Hospital in Dublin, or if the situation calls for it, the trauma centers in hospitals in Macon or Augusta. With on-board EKGs and similar high-tech medical equipment, the first responders can transmit sensitive, life-saving information directly to a destination emergency room, which is then prepared for the case when the patient arrives.
