Georgia County Government-August 2008 - (Page 22) ABRAHAM continued from page 21 from the National Association of State Facility Administrators for spearheading the creation of a database of all state facilities and leases throughout Georgia. As the head of Georgia DOT, Abraham is looking to introduce more efficiency to another state agency. In addition to rolling out a five-year project prioritization plan, Commissioner Abraham is taking a comprehensive look at how the DOT manages projects by introducing DOT staffers to a Project Management Group model. This will allow a Georgia DOT staff member to man-age projects from start to finish, bringing more accountability. She also has launched a customer-service initiative, How’s My Service, which allows taxpayers and other customers to go online and share comments about their experience with the DOT — good or bad. With her mantra, “focus on doing the right thing,” Abraham has been clear about how she will manage the Georgia DOT: “I will be open, honest and transparent.” It is her personal philosophy — along with extensive data — that drives many of her decisions.
