HR Pulse - Spring 2008 - (Page 28) >> VIDEO INTERVIEWING IS HERE in that department, but they wanted to use the solution to introduce the candidate to the largest number of reviewers throughout the organization, and they did so in a cost effective manner. People were thrilled with the results. The chart below shows what hospitals and health care organizations should expect as a baseline for cost avoidance and ROI on distant applicants. Many metrics are not even included here, so these are minimal expectations. I do not think these kinds of benefits can be realized in other areas of HR workflow that have been digitized already. Gains in those areas are generally in much smaller percentages and often more difficult to achieve. Needless to say, in any industry there will be early adopters, those who wait to be part of the mainstream, and those who may never adopt video interviewing for a host of reasons. Of course, one of the most amazing misconceptions is the belief that the nature of that organization’s industry, or the highly specialized knowledge of workers in that industry, makes them immune to benefits from video interviewing! It’s only a matter of time before that myth falls apart. Fortunately, video interviewing solutions are scalable and can be customized for both small and large organizations, depending on their specific requirements. Just how video interviewing will help your organization depends entirely on a thorough evaluation of your needs. n Bryan St. Laurent is global sales director at HireVue, the video interview company based in Salt Lake City.
