HR Pulse - Spring 2009 - (Page 9) [EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S LETTER] Coming Soon I know our members have watched the growth and success of ASHHRA and have stepped up to serve when we needed you to do so. THE CURRENT ECONOMY IS difficult for every organization; however, in health care we know certain criteria must be met and quality must be upheld, even during tough times, to serve the HR profession, the community and, most importantly, the patient. That’s why this edition of HR Pulse is focused on helping you to continue the role of “strategic leader” in your organization. In that regard, we believe ASHHRA provides you with critical resources as cost effectively as possible. With the challenges you handle daily—workforce shortages, retaining employees, new legislation and regulatory practices—we realize the amount of time available for expanding your horizons is minimized. To help enhance your skills and keep you informed of the latest trends that affect your everyday professional life, we are pleased to introduce myASHHRA, an online social networking tool. It is a place for colleagues to meet and share experiences, resources, and ideas. You can have experts at your fingertips to help you with the vital issues you face as a health care HR professional. With a new board in place for 2009, and a new leader, Dan Zuhlke, we are poised to continue providing you not only with excellent products and services but a new way to communicate and connect with each other, all in support of the ASHHRA mission to be the foremost authority in health care human resources. Be assured that we will continue the tradition of quality service to you; we always seek to improve and learn what your needs are. The theme of the 2009 Annual Conference is New Heights for HR Leaders, Strategic Partners Driving Results, and we are so proud to have secured Buzz Aldrin as our keynote speaker. Forty years ago, Aldrin was the second man to walk on the moon. He is an inspiring role model for everyone who strives for greater accomplishments. In addition, ASHHRA will be celebrating its 45th anniversary. It is humbling to think of the success we have experienced over the years; our members, the past leaders whose shoulders we stand on, and our sponsors who supported us all have brought us to this special place in time. As we look back, we also look forward. Our new Mentoring Program will provide new members with the tools they need under the guidance of the most experienced ASHHRA leaders. Indeed, we are counting on all members, new and experienced, to move our organization forward. I know our members have watched the growth and success of ASHHRA and have stepped up to serve when we needed you to do so. We intend to be the organization that you are proud to be a part of and the one that provides you with the inspiration and motivation to do the great work you do each day. We thank you for the opportunity to continue to serve you and to be a “strategic partner driving results.” Regards, Cathy Sewell, CAE ASHHRA Executive Director Online Community Benefits Share resources and best practices Announce chapter events Hold conversations with colleagues on industry hot topics Chat with various HR groups on topics of specific interest to you Receive updates on health care HR issues with a direct link to www.myashhra.org Call 312.422.3720 for more information HR My_ASHHRA_Editorial_Ad.indd 1 Pulse Spring 2009 9 PM 1/8/09 10:55:56 http://www.myashhra.org
