A former ASHHRA board member, Bank is now applying her energy and passion for the profession beyond the Wisconsin state border to benefit the Midwest as the Region 5 Consultant. In that role, she was responsible for organizing and hosting the first-ever regional ASHHRA conference on March 13 and 14 in Milwaukee. (See sidebar on page 16.) “Carol has great drive and follow through in every task she undertakes,” says Lisa Schott, ASHHRA Regional Director and the director of compensation and HR technology at Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas. “She is a highly accountable person. If she says she is going to do something, it gets done. Carol certainly demonstrates all five components of the ASHHRA HR Leader Model, but most notably to me she has exceptional strengths when it comes to exemplifying excellence. The event in Milwaukee was an outstanding success and has set the bar high for all future regional events.” Colleagues say that they’re not just impressed by what Bank does but also by how she does it. “Carol does everything with enthusiasm, collaboration, and attention to detail. She is always willing to help out and does so with a smile and a great sense of humor. If she ever has a bad day, you wouldn’t know it,” says Schott. Bank applies her leadership qualities well beyond the walls of her health care organization and her profession. She is the past board president of the Portage United Way; a member of the Business Careers Advisory Council at Madison Area Technical College; a member of the Advisory Board of Choices, a support group for at-risk teenage girls; a former Board of Education member; and a former chair of her church finance committee. When she’s not busy leading one charge or another, Bank enjoys camping, painting, and reading. 19 HR Pulse Summer 2008 • Advertise your job openings • Batch email UNLIMITED JOB PACKAGES AT UNBELIEVABLE PRICES!
