HR Pulse - Summer 2008 - (Page 46) >> FROM TEDIOUS TASK TO STRATEGIC PROCESS In assessing potential vendors, health care organizations should be looking for a solution designed to meet their unique needs. A key thing to look for is a system that puts HR in control of the system, not vendors. This means HR is able to make changes as needed to everything from the flow of the process to the forms without relying on costly or time-consuming “customizations” from a vendor. By implementing a system that HR is in control of and meets health care specific needs, HR professionals are in a better position to focus on what matters—getting the process up and running and dealing with people. Summary Automating employee performance and talent management provides health care organizations with the ability to improve processes, while creating time and cost savings, as well as driving HR to a new strategic level within the organization. Making the move to modernize employee performance management can have a major impact on retention and employee satisfaction, while ensuring health care organizations are well-positioned to win the war for talent. David Bird is product marketing manager at Halogen Software. He can be reached at (613) 270-1011 ext. 271 or dbird@halogensoftware.com. and moving to a Web-based system can seem daunting. With more mainstream adoption of automated employee performance and talent management systems, solutions have become much more accessible to all health care organizations. Reduced price points and technical requirements now make this a realistic program for any HR team to roll out. In the past, many HR software implementations were complicated and time consuming. However, current employee performance management systems are relatively simple to implement, as they are generally built to be used by non-technical users. 46 HR Pulse Summer 2008 Find Your Perfect Match Today!
